The organizers are Stanford's Digital Economy Lab and the STAIR research group (Stanford CS), together with UNHCR, UNICEF and the World Bank. The development phase runs until October 30; the finals and prizes — November 1–14, 2026. TRON: Technology for Accurate Prediction of Earthquake Magnitude, Location, and Tim

This technology was developed by me immediately after the Japanese earthquake on March 11, 2011 . The online technology for accurately predicting the magnitude, location, and time of earthquakes, «TRON» (Technology Real-time Online Nucleus), is based on the ability of domestic, farm, and wild animals to sense earthquakes in advance. By collecting information over the Internet about changes in the behavior of these animals, and then using the "greedy algorithms" of Keilis-Borok, it is possible to predict a future earthquake with an accuracy of up to 1 day, the epicenter with an accuracy of up to 10 km, and the strength of the shock with an accuracy of up to 1 magnitude. Global earthquake detection and warning using Android phones

Editor’s summary Earthquake early warning systems depend on real-time analysis of waves detected at nearby seismic stations or by smartphone accelerometers. The latter approach, although less sensitive, is a promising way to offer alerts in areas without seismic stations. In a major step forward, Allen  et al . describe the outcomes of an alert system rolled out to Android phones in 98 countries, which increased total warning system access 10-fold to 2.5 billion people over 3 years. TRON Pilot Experiment at Gemma 4 Kaggle Hackathon 2026

Gemma 4 Kaggle Hackathon 2026 took place from April 3 to May 19, 2026. The goal was to create solutions based on Gemma 4 multimodal models to address real-world global challenges.  TRON startup participated in the Global Resilience direction - building systems for disaster prediction and response. 1,610 teams participated out of 14,523 registered participants.  TRON technology author, Boris D. Yarovoy competed as a solo team of one person, writing all the software code for the pilot experiment independently. Hypothesis Multimodal neural networks, such as Gemma 4 from Google DeepMind, can detect changes in animal behavior by analyzing video recordings. Mathematical review of technological singularity models

Abstract This paper reviews different definitions and models of technological singularity. The models range from conceptual sketches to detailed endogenous growth models, as well as attempts to fit empirical data to quantitative models. Such models are useful for examining the dynamics of the world-system and possible types of future crisis points where fundamental transitions are likely to occur. Current models suggest that, generically, even small increasing returns tend to produce radical growth. If mental capital becomes copyable (such as would be the case for AI or brain emulation), extremely rapid growth would also become likely.

Quake prediction panel to retain name despite 3/11 disaster setback

An earthquake prediction panel is not going to change its name even after its failure to predict the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, it has been learned. The Coordinating Committee for Earthquake Prediction (CCEP) on Feb. 17 approved a report filed by a working group within the committee, which stated that the CCEP will aim to improve the methods for earthquake prediction through research while retaining the entity's name. The working group was set up in 2012 out of regret for having failed to forecast the Great East Japan Earthquake. The working panel had been considering reviewing CCEP's roles but concluded that the entity should retain its current organization and function. In the wake of the March 11, 2011 quake disaster, many pointed to the difficulty of predicting temblors, leading to a move to review the CCEP's name.
